Welcome to The Dark Archive, a darker take on Blind Date With a Book, created for readers drawn to horror, gothic fiction, dark fantasy, dark historical fiction, thrillers and stories that stray a little further into the shadows.

Every book that enters the Archive is carefully selected and assigned its own Volume No. Its title, author and cover are concealed, leaving only a series of spoiler-free clues to guide your choice. You’ll know its classification, length, mood and reader rating, but the identity of the book remains a mystery until you unwrap it.

Rather than choosing a book because you recognise the cover or have seen it everywhere online, browse the Archive by the kind of story you actually want to read. Follow the clues, choose the volume that intrigues you most, and discover what you’ve been given only when it arrives.

But the book is only part of it.

Every Dark Archive volume is individually wrapped and prepared by hand, complete with its own handwritten Archive card and exclusive illustrated extras from Sophie Atkinson Illustration, including an art print and bookmark.

You’ll also find a selection of Reading Provisions tucked into your parcel, with little treats and warming drinks chosen to accompany your next few hours lost in a good book.

Each volume is finished in the signature Dark Archive style with black wrapping, archival details and a wax seal, turning the experience of choosing and opening your mystery book into something a little more special.
